Timing Font - Licensing Terms
Terms are basically
PC Services Font Licensing Basic Terms
--------------------------------------
If usage type is not described here then it needs special licensing contact
PC Services ([email protected]).
Usage Types
-----------
Licensing is basically split into Non-Profit and Profit usage.
Distribution of the font is not covered by these licensing terms, this
requires special licensing conditions on a case by case basis.
For Profit is being used in documents that are sold with product, datasheets,
magazines, or additional sold to somebody else or marketing materials
including websites, quotations, specifications.
Not for (direct) profit is used in work for internal communications.
Also free web published documentation for free products (i.e. describing
a home project or open source/license product) see tips on embedding fonts.
Basically if the documentation is marketing, sold, pre sales or after sales,
then it has to have a license, no matter how available, on whatever media,
or even by web or internet distribution.
Basic premise for internal communications, is that it only stays within the
company.
Non-Profit Usage
----------------
Including web based documents.
a/ All documents must acknowledge the font's name and source and how to
find this company, in the same place as other copyright and trademarks
are acknowledged.
b) Font must be embedded into electronic documents (for ease of end
user operation) or by prior agreement available as zip downloadable file
c) This is only for use on documents
(anything involving incorporating the font as directly installable
is a different issue)
Profit Usage
------------
My licensing schemes are basically
a) Three levels of likely usage (low, medium, high)
Examples
high usage would be datasheet usage, like semi manufacturer or magazine.
medium usage is medium to large company using in more than one product
low usage is small company using in occassional products
Usage is based more on company size than current usage as tools get used
for more and more products once started.
b) Font must be embedded into electronic documents (for ease of end
user operation) or by prior agreement available as zip downloadable file
c) This is only for use on commercial documents
(anything involving incorporating the font as directly installable
is a different issue)
My licensing terms basically are
1/ ONE off payment for the company (all sites) and its successors
(I cannot be bothered with maintaining annual renewals etc...
let alone how many computers installed on at each site.)
2/ All documents must acknowledge the font's name and source and how to
find this company, in the same place as other copyright and trademarks
are acknowledged.
3/ The license is granted to and paid for by the company wanting to use
the license. I cannot be bothered with distributors and discounting.
4/ For large companies, group of companies, and company takeovers/merges it
is the customer's respnsibilty to inform PC Services of these changes in
order that the new license holder and company names can be seen as valid.
Failure to do so will mean the changes will not be recognised as license
holders.
Licensing costs
All payments are one off payment for life usage
Usage Start price
LOW usage 100 GBP
MEDIUM usage 300 GBP
HIGH usage 500 GBP
Taxes and other costs (exchange rates, transfers, etc.) extra.
Currency is GB Pounds (sterling), currency conversion rates and transfer
costs are responsibilty of the customer.
Just trying to do simple licensing schemes, which are easy for both parties.
